[Mini-rant] WOW! sucks

WOW! aka Knowlogy does indeed suck. They tend to oversubscribe their nodes to death, so during primetime their internet is generally unusable.

Back when I had Knowlogy they started out fine, then after about 2 months they went downhill fast as a lot more people in my neighborhood started jumping on them as well. Starting at around 4pm my 25Mbps would start going downhill to about 0.25Mbps with frequent packet loss and resets. Classic signs of an oversubscribed node.

I had the exact same problem when I switched to MediaCom as well. Good for about 3 months, then downhill fast as more people switched from Knowlogy to MediaCom. After moving across town and into Comcrap territory, speeds are consistent. Expensive as hell, but consistent.

Is this supposed to be fast?

No, but it works for me. I don't stream. My total bandwidth usage a month is probably around 3 GB/month if that.

LMAO! Reminds me of that epic South Park episode. I don't think I could ever get into MMORPG Type games. I'm more of a FPS guy and then there's FS2004 and the Mario All Stars emulator and N64 Muppen which I play Goldeneye and Perfect Dark. I bought a N64 to USB adapter and a Super Nintendo USB controller.
