Mini-PCIe SSDs

Something like this.

I know these are meant for laptops but seeing its PCIe interface, I wonder if they can be plugged into PCIe slots on motherboards.

Then on a second thought, they should be recognized as disk volumes.. so unless there is some kind of a controller built-in and/or drivers, a mobo will have no clue what the heck they are.. (?)

Is a laptop that uses these equipped with a special adapter or something? Or can these be used on a desktop board?

I'm pretty sure mini-PCIe has to have a usb2.0 signal on its pins in addition to a 1x PCIe lane.

So, I seriously doubt it would work.
