Just bought an HP ze4427 laptop and it has this slot for a mini PCI card.
Is that the wifi card i can add later? if so, where can i buy one from

1) yes
2) hp, or if they don't use some sort of propriety design on their miniPCI you should be able to buy them anywhere they are sold (I haven't seen them around though, Dell spare parts has them, the intel 'b' one is only like 30 bucks).

There are a couple different types of mini-pci. One is really standard - the rest are less common. Ebay often his mini-pci wifi cards. Some pci wifi cards actually have minipci cards within that you could remove. Newegg sells a mini pci wifi card or two. Hope this helps.

there are 3 types of mini-pci cards.

one is for a modem or ethernet
one is for a modem AND ethernet
one is for wifi

these are common applications for mini pci on laptops.

the three are not compatible with each other.

while mini pci specs are the same throughout, the ability to place an antenna within the laptop's body for wifi is proprietory.
