Mini Jack Adapter Question

I just purchased an X-Fi Extrememusic card to replace both my Audigy 1 and Revolution 7.1

However, I have a TV Tuner card that requires a line-in jack on my sound-card for sound. I also use a microphone for gaming that requires a mic-in jack.

On the new card, both those jacks are combined into one, which is a big screw for me.

Is it possible to use an adapter like this one?

To plug in both my microphone and TV tuner into the versajack on my soundcard? I will never be using the microphone AND the TV tuner at the same time. Would this not work or reduce the quality?
