Mini-ITX Thread :D

Does anybody know if the Pentium-M is pin compatible with current socket 478 boards. That would be nice to get a ITX P4 board and through a Pentium-M in there which would be fast as hell and also cool to the touch. Just throw the retail HSF on it and not even plug the fan in. That would definitely be my next entertainment PC.

If it is, it might not work. Pentium M CPUs run with Intel's 855 chipset which I've never seen matched with a P4.

I got this from xbitlabs web site:

"there are some enthusiasts, who may want to try the processor in their current desktop systems. Pentium M processors utilise Socket 479, while conventional Pentium 4 chips use Socket 478 and our hardware analysts believe that there is possibility to install a Pentium M chip on a desktop mainboard. In fact, Intel itself even demonstrated Pentium M and E7205-based computer at IDF earlier this year and everything worked quite fine."

Commell has both flavors of mini-ITX in its cupboard, so I think there is hope.
