Mini hitching in all games

i have a

AMD x2 3800+
2gb ocz pc3200
7900gtx 174.12 all stock speeds


in every game i get these mini hitches. anyone have any ideas as to why?

they'd be for about 1-2 seconds but happen alot very annoying

Did you try non-beta (WHQL) drivers?

Have you cleaned up the hard drive and run defrag?

Try turning off virus protection?

What power supply?

Check your temps?

I feel your pain...hitches during gaming drive me frickin insane. For example, I've tweaked Oblivion to death, loaded some graphics mods...but it still does it from time to time. :frown:

It could be your cpu...

Try the "AMD Dual-Core Optimizer" from:

You can also try setting the affinity for the stuttering game to see if that helps. This is done by opening the task manager, Processes tab, and right clicking on the executable. This allows you to make your game run on a single core of your dual core cpu, which can sometimes help smooth out hitches caused by the application 'bouncing back and forth' between the cores.
