Mini-fridge water cooling idea...

okay, so me and my friend have taken up case modding and have been working on it and heres an idea we've got...

you take your computer throw it in a mini-fridge.. its been done before yeh great, its nice and cold...

now heres the next idea... what about throwing in water cooling as well? The problem is having the water freeze... however what if you put the radiator in the little icebox above it (so its at below freezing temperature sub 32 degree's i think?) running a liquid that has very very low freezing temperatures? So a liquid like liquid nitrogen (or something safer)

now you have the whole computer sitting in the fridge nice and cool along with this water cooling which is extremely cold running over the cpu?

any idea's, suggestions?

right, however this also includes extreme overclocking...

It sounds fun but when all is said and done, you could just put in a few extra hours at work and buy a processor that's supposed to be running at that speed. Or even better yet overclock a faster processor by conventional means (air).

ah, no im not talking about buying some small processor, im talking about buying like... the fastest chip out there.. maybe a 3.2ghz prescott or something or one of the amd fx-53's

basically buying the best processor you can and just overclocking it to its absolute highest point... this is with no budget what so ever...

This is sort of beating a dead horse, it's been talked about by everyone... In the end, with everything you've done, it would be a lot easier just to build/buy a direct die phase change cooler. Fridges (especially mini-fridges) aren't designed to constantly remove heat, the compressors are designed to kick in every now and then. If you do what you're talking about, you'll have a processor constantly producing heat, causing the compressor to run 24/7, and that's not good for it.

In the end, you'd be better off buying a prommy or something. I wouldn't risk an 800 dollar processor on a cheap 50 dollar mini-fridge's compressor. When you wake up one morning to see that the compressor went out in the middle of the night, and your shiny new 3 day old processor is now fried, you will have wished you'd spend a couple hundred extra and got REAL cooling for it.

If you're on such a budget that you can't afford real cooling, and have to resort to something ghetto like that, buying an (around) 800 dollar processor probably isn't the best idea. Buy, say, a Pentium 4 3.2C (or 3.2E), and take the money you saved over the FX-53 and spend it on, say, a prometia Mach I.

waste of power. the minifridge isn't going to get cold enough to freeze water anyways considering the heat its fighting.
