Mini DV Tapes. How often can they be resused?

GOt a Mini-DV camcorder a couple weeks ago and was just wondering how long the tapes are supposed to last. I heard someone at Best Buy saying that if you record of them 4 or 5 times then you will start to notice the signal degredation.

Just wondering if anyone has experimented with this and knows how often a tape can be resused.

i think for once the best buy guy is on the money. i only use DV tapes once, if you search around you can find deals on them to get them to around 2.50 a tape. so $100 for 40 hours of tape is not bad.
