Mini Cooper S or Scion tC?

Going to test drive the Mini S tommorow morning, and hopefully the tC in the afternoon... Best i can tell, its roughly a $3k difference between the two... With the edge in handling/engine going to the Mini, edge in size going to the tC

Which would you do?

FYI,

I drive ~ 80 mile roundtrip commute M-F
Its only me, fiancee, and a medium dog (40lbs)

Hmm... I kinda like both, but the Mini S is just too small for me. Plus, we don't know how the resale on the Tc will be.

I'd probably get the TC though.

Cooper S no question. Everyone is getting a Scion now, and aren't very impressive.

The Cooper has a lot of room for 2 people, not for 4 people, though. With the front seat pushed all the way back, I cannot engage the clutch, and i'm 5.9". It has a lot of room with the rear seats folded, as well. We fit our Christmas tree and all the decorations yesterday. The tree is an 8 footer, plus lots and lots of goofy lights and such

EDIT: For reference, our Jeep can fit about half of what we can get in the MINI, making it the grocery getter :Q

I like the Scion..but the Cooper S is a nifty car too. If you do get the Scion, supercharge it.

it handles well enough as well. for the price, you get alot of features

I'd say you get some very good features with a MINI (auto headlights, wipers, HID, park distance controller, LSD, Dynamic Stability Control, auto climate control, etc etc etc) , and how is a tC more fun of a ride?

Absolutely no question if you're a car enthusiast. The Mini Cooper S wins hands down. The Scion is a well built car and looks good, but it doesn't hold a candle to the Mini when it comes to performance.

I don't know what you mean by room. Storage? When I test drove the Mini Cooper S, I was in the habit of putting the seat all the way back. I was laughing to myself when I couldn't reach the pedals. I'm 6'1" and I put the seat all the way back in most cars and it's just about right for me. I couldn't drive the Mini Cooper with the seat all the way back.

BTW.. I test drove an E46 BMW M3 directly before test driving the Mini Cooper S. I saw the Mini's across the street on the auto dealer campus, so I decided that I wanted to drive one. Directly after having driven the M3, I was not disappointed at all in the Mini. I tell you. If I could only afford the Mini, but wanted the M3, I would not have been disappointed in the least if I took the Mini home. That's saying something considering the price difference.

I vote Mini Cooper S also, which is the far superior car. The TC is a hyundai tiburon made by toyota. Features don't make up for it lackluster performance. Both cars are a bit girly.

One word of caution, the ride in the Minis are awful.

You know, I don't know which one I would pick...I want to say the tC if you wanted to mod it a bit, but there's a good aftermarket for the Mini as well...but it just seems like the Mini will be more expensive in upkeep. I love the styling of both cars too...

Not a bad decision you have to make...it's not like you can go wrong here
