Minecraft Mod Manager

My daughter is playing the vanilla version of Minecraft and, of course, would like some mods. I'm no stranger to the modding community, I've modded Skyrim, Fallout, etc... However, I was never heavy into it...

Life is always nicer with a good mod manager, but you always see debates on which one is better and warnings not to use THAT one...

She's 7, so I plan on doing this myself, but I'm curious if anyone has a suggestion for one that works well, with minimal fuss. I already Googled it and found a few, but, of course, it doesn't look like there are any one-click options and though it wouldn't hurt to ask before I start with the trial and error.

Which makes me wonder, aren't there mods on the XBOX version of Minecraft? I'd assume THEY have to have an easy option. Hell, they have to have regenerating health bars in all their games! *snicker*

Use Forge. Its really easy to add/remove mods. Just install the appropriate version for your MC version, and drop the .zip or .jar into the new Mods folder. Its that simple.

FTB or technic launchers have dozens of premade mod packs. Way way better than individually loading your own. The packs are tweaked to work well together. Unless you're only getting a few mods get those.

I recommend attack of the b team or TPPI.

My vote goes to FTB. Technic and Forge are good, but I find it much easier to FIND new mods and apply those mods using the FTB launcher.

I use forge for my kids minecraft. But really, you also need to create a profile for each mod unless your kid can keep track of which saves go with which mod combinations. Because if you try to load a world you created with Mod A, but are now using Mod B it can destroy the world. So it really isn't as simple as add/remove mods if your kid likes playing with a bunch of different ones.

That's why I like FTB because it does all of that for you. You click the mod you want to play and away you go.

There's a list of big mod packs. These big packs have, like, a special community name for the list of individual mods that the big pack includes. Some of these big packs include individual mods that are included in many other big mod packs (because everybody loves them or whatever).

If you find a mod pack that has everything you want plus some extra, you can select that modpack and then turn off the extra individual mod pieces that you don't want.

You'll be hard pressed to find a mod pack in FTB that doesn't offer what you're most likely looking for unless you're some kind of ultra fringe modder.

TPPI is a walk in the park by comparison. I love both packs and have no regrets playing either.

Lately, I have been playing a pack that is halfway between TPPI and Beyond Reality called FTB Resurrection. It is made in the spirit of the old "Ultimate" mod-pack. It is on the new 1.7.10 and features GregTech, but has other mods to make it not quite as hard as Beyond Reality.

I like Technic better than Forge but both are worth checking out. Technic is also easier for my 8yo son to use. He can dl and install/uninstall mods by himself. Since your daughter is 7 it might be easier for her too.
