Mind Bending PS2 Mouse problem

Bend your mind around this one.

Facts: I'm running a KVM between my Laptop and my Desktop. KVM is PS2 based. Mouse is a MS Intelimouse hooked up to KVM through a USB to PS2 adaptor.

Problem: Whenever I switch from my desktop to my laptop, my mouse goes erratic. Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Problem never happens when I switch from my laptop to my desktop. There is also no switching problem when I plug in an old native PS2 MS ball mouse.

Hypothesis: Laptop is not supplying enough power through the PS2 port to power both the KVM and the mouse.

Question: How do I supply enough power to my mouse? I've never even heard, much less seen an Aux power adoptor for 9-pin PS2 before.

A KVM supplies a small signal to the computer that is not being used to avoid the problems of a disconected mouse - sounds like your is getting confused about this signal. mine does something similar - I unplug it from the kvm and plug it back in and alls well - dont know why it does this I think some laptops/motherboards are just strangely sensitive.
