My favorites are Manhatten clam chowder, Chili, and Gumbo. Since the first two are Tomato based, and the third is broth based, and none of them are milk/cream based. I'm going to go with Broth.

You should say "cream based" as the good ones are made with cream.

Oh, and how about a vote for both? Most of the soups I make start off with a stock, and often I add some cream to it at the end.

Cream of mushroom is nasty, but I love new england clam chowder. I usually buy broth base soup like chicken noodle.

Depends on the soup of course.

Broth based soups can have more depth, but throw lobster bisque in there and that throws that point totally out the window as it uses broth AND cream.

My two favorite soups are baked potato and a nice spicy gumbo... so I dunno. Both are damn good :)

Both, but I do prefer a simple chicken broth noodle soup over any other soup usually

I like both.

There are some broth soups that I like better than milk soups. And there are some milk soups that I like better than broth soups.

I generally like most soup though.

by itself, cream based soups (eg. Clam Chowder) is the best. However, if it's like noodle soup or stew, than definitely broth based. Nothing tastes better than some Seafood Miso Ramen or a hearty southern Beef Stew.

Milk-based is good, but broth is ok, too.
Higher calorie density FTW.
