I've seen people with a Masters degree enlist because they wanted to do the job (cryptography for example) instead of lead the shop that does the job. With Officers it is hit or miss whether they know what the heck is going on, because your Logistics officer this year might be in charge of a Communications squadron next year. They are paid to be leaders, not because they know the field they are working.

Maybe awile back.. today they allow convicts and even HS drop outs in ranks! A week doe'nt go by anymore I'm not reading some story about some elisted guys embarressing us..drug running..rape..some such other crap.

Besides as an officer you are basically setting yourself up for middle magagement 500 or less employees under you with the valueable leadership skills any service will give...these skills are transferable anyplace anywhere in corporate america.
