I appreciate your steadfastness with regard to the color scheme, but I remain unconvinced. Grey woud've been acceptable, dare I say, "cool" even :) But blue... it comes across as contrived and very corny.

In fact the only reason that I've read blue was utilized as a dominant hue is because it adds "flair" to the uniform. I'm not exhagerating, that's the actual term used. I'll see if I can dig it up. Hyperbole or no hyperbole, what other reason would you suspect that blue (as opposed to a more neutral gray) would be used other than flaunting the "Air Force Blue" theme for the sake of distinctiveness?

As for wear testing. They are doing very well. Those who say they are flimsy, more than likely, aren't actually wearing them now.

The hat is gone. We just had an all-ranks call with Gen. Jumper. He joked about the hat...it was pretty funny. The color works. It is staying. Bah, you should be lucky to wear it. There are some bases going to Blues all the time unless working in a "dirty" enviroment. For us network engineers, it is hard to find a dirty area in our office. :p

Which Airmen? The ones working on the flightline or the majority that work off the flightline at various duties, including Security Forces and their augmentees? Or, the ones who work on the flightline but when off duty are running around in unimproved areas which aren't asphalt-colored? Also, if you haven't noticed, flightlines are bordered with unimproved areas which are generally brown or green or some variation thereof. If I were caught in the open on flat pavement, I'd either lie flat until the bombardment is over (which means that camouflage is pointless since artillery is generally non-LOS) or make a beeline for a bunker or non-flat area to take cover, where camouflage might make a difference. Last I read, even the command has backed off the BS flightline camouflage crap and have said it's a "garrison" uniform, meaning it's completely pointless and only costs the service more money because additional uniforms have to be issued even for woodland or jungle deployments. Really smart. The "all blues" push is from Jumper and likely won't survive his tenure, thank God. Leave it to base commanders where it belongs.

I have heard nothing but good comments about the material and its care. That's a good point. The color and pattern are not good points. Not even remotely so. Hopefully someone will take notice and do something about it so we don't have another McPeak on our hands.
