Military Press on my BDU's

I took my Army BDU's in for dry cleaning and having them military pressed was an option, so i had them do it. However, one of us is wrong..me or the cleaners. I know the sleeves in the BDU top are supposed to be pressed, but they pressed two lines going down the front of the shirt that run on the same lines as my nipples.

Who is wrong? I know that my BDU shirt needs to be pressed in the sleeves with a sharp crease running down them, not in the middle of the shirt.

I thought the military press included the nipple crease...at least it does on military dress shirts. Never seen it on a T-Shirt.

I think you are wrong for asking for the military press. Anyway, you don?t want those two creases in the middle of your BDU shirt.

Is this a cleaner on base? I?ve always found that the cleaners off base do a better job for you. I was on the drill team and the cleaner?s right outside the gate would do a perfect job when you asked for heavy starch. I would get it done on the base and they would botch it up every time.

Lapels and sleeves of service, dress, and mess coats and jackets will be roll-pressed, without creasing. Skirts will not be creased. Trousers, slacks, and the sleeves of shirts and blouses will be creased. Soldiers may add military creases to the AG shade 415 shirt and the battle dress uniform (BDU) coat (not the field jacket). Soldiers will center the front creases on each side of the shirt, centered on the pockets, for those garments that have front pockets. Soldiers may press a horizontal crease across the upper back of the shirt or coat (not necessary on the male shirt due to the yoke seam), and they may press three equally spaced vertical creases down the back, beginning at the yoke seam or horizontal crease. Additionally, soldiers may crease the sleeves of the BDU coat. Soldiers are not authorized to sew military creases into the uniform.

Back in my day you were not supposed to press them. The heat ruins the ability of the uniform to "resist" infrared detection.

this was a local Mai Kai cleaners. I can't justify driving an hour just to have my BDUs cleaned and pressed when there are sooo many cleaners right around the corner from me.

They are wrong. The only creases you should have are down the sleves and down the legs. There was a cleaners near our air base and if i had a troop come in for GuardMount with a Fu*ked up uniform like that i would send him home to change.

Hee, hee, back in the day my BDU's, we called them fatigues, were washed by Mamasan on a riverbank by beating them on a rock and wringing them in river water. What are these creases you speak of, little one?

Same here. I was only guessing that BDU's were fatigues.

We washed them ourselves and certainly didn't press them. We were not girly-men.

The military press creases were only specifically prohibited in the most recent uniform board which released its results about two months ago. Prior to that, I think it was in limbo and tacitly allowed by the regs.

Navy's utility blue uniform should have 2 creases on the front (over the pockets). Never seen army or AF bdu's with them.

The new AF BDUs are just play gay. Only good thing about them is the wash and wear fabric, and I've heard people in the wear test complay that its flimsy material that doesn't hold up well in a maintainer's environment.

Personally, I like the Army's new BDUs. They look great, incorporate a number of cool features, and are also wash and wear.

dress uniform , 2 creases in the front, 3 in the back and 2 down the sleeves, thats for the marine corps. Now for the cammies, no creases the new digital cammies we have you throw them in the dryer shake out a couple times and they are ready to wear.

So I heard. Thank God for Wear Tests. That Marine style hat was just as bad as the colors. I tore it up on that online survey a while back.

The new Air Force BDU's are the best camo for the environment an airmen will be in...the flightline. You like the Army ones? They go well in the woods. Airmen who hang in the woods will get the green ones. You go to the desert. You get DCU's . The blue BDUs are for protecting a flightline/city.

As for wear testing. They are doing very well. Those who say they are flimsy, more than likely, aren't actually wearing them now.

The hat is gone. We just had an all-ranks call with Gen. Jumper. He joked about the hat...it was pretty funny. The color works. It is staying. Bah, you should be lucky to wear it. There are some bases going to Blues all the time unless working in a "dirty" enviroment. For us network engineers, it is hard to find a dirty area in our office.
