If you were returning beer cans in the best market to return cans for the deposit (Michigan, 10 cents per can), you would need to return 2,140 cans to make $214.00 in deposit money. If you have to get 2,140 beers with $1,000, you're averaging 47 cents per beer, or a 6 pack for $2.80. And that's in Michigan; in every other state with a bottle deposit law, you're talking about $1.40 per 6 pack. You can't buy beer that cheap. You literally cannot buy beer for $1.40 for a 6 pack; that beer does not exist for sale in America. So, bullshit.

That, plus this idea that the average American walks 900 miles a year... there's a reason people make fun of anyone who forwards random nonsense that shows up in their email. The "facts" in this email are pure, unadulterated bullshit. Stop it.

In MI you can totally get a 30 of Beast or Red Dog for like $11-$13. That'd work out pretty close.

Of course, the you'd have to drink $1,000 worth of Beast or Red Dog. So... yeah.

Stupid joke.

The beginning is misleading and implies they were all poor investments. Yes, $1,000 worth of shares in Delta(~165 shares 5 years ago) would have paid out a dividend of around $49 in the last 5 years, but those same shares are worth over $6,000 today.
