But, if you had purchased $1,000 worth of beer one year ago, drank all the beer, then turned in the aluminum cans for the recycling refund, you would have received $214.00. Based on the above, the best current investment plan is to drink heavily & recycle. It is called the 401-Keg.

If you were returning beer cans in the best market to return cans for the deposit (Michigan, 10 cents per can), you would need to return 2,140 cans to make $214.00 in deposit money. If you have to get 2,140 beers with $1,000, you're averaging 47 cents per beer, or a 6 pack for $2.80. And that's in Michigan; in every other state with a bottle deposit law, you're talking about $1.40 per 6 pack. You can't buy beer that cheap. You literally cannot buy beer for $1.40 for a 6 pack; that beer does not exist for sale in America. So, bullshit.

That, plus this idea that the average American walks 900 miles a year... there's a reason people make fun of anyone who forwards random nonsense that shows up in their email. The "facts" in this email are pure, unadulterated bullshit. Stop it.

This.

In MI you can totally get a 30 of Beast or Red Dog for like $11-$13. That'd work out pretty close.

Of course, the you'd have to drink $1,000 worth of Beast or Red Dog. So... yeah.

The new American past time is believing every stupid thing from everyone, everywhere.

We are now becoming proud of being the stupidest people on the planet. Welcome to the new United States.

Stupid joke.

The beginning is misleading and implies they were all poor investments. Yes, $1,000 worth of shares in Delta(~165 shares 5 years ago) would have paid out a dividend of around $49 in the last 5 years, but those same shares are worth over $6,000 today.

This article seems to corroborate that. doesn't seem out of whack to me, think about how much you walk, even if it's just from the house to the car, or your desk to the bathroom. it adds up.

unless you're just being sarcastic about americans being lazy or you assumed they walked 2.5 miles in 1 go?

Just going to post this. I think many of us don't realize how many steps we take a day.
