Mike Tyson vs Bruce Lee

Take both fighters in their prime. No weapons, no gloves, flat terrain, no rules. Who wins the fight?

Since Bruce Lee is dead and Tyson is um... dead, this is completely hypothetical. I know Bruce Lee had alot of skills but in my opinion, Tyson would win 60+% of the time. Tyson was faster, stronger, and a more explosive athlete than Lee. The way I see it, Lee would have no margin for error in a fight with Tyson, where as Tyson could probably take a few punches from Lee.

Tyson only knows how to punch & Bruce fighting was more rounded, although not as rounded as todays MMA fighters. I would go with Bruce, didnt Bruce used to spar with Muhammed Ali?

bruce was too fast even for the cameras. they had to overcrank (or was it undercrank? something about adjusting the speed of the cameras) to keep up with his movements.

Think about it. Bruce Lee was obviously much faster. His skills were much more numerous and more honed, especially in terms of blocking, dodging and redirecting attacks. Tyson was/is good at punching and I'll give him a decent for dodging. I would like to see Tyson try to put up with Bruce kicking at his knees or his head even.

I was prepared to say Lee until I pictured the two of them on flat terrain like you said. With no obstacles or distractions theres no doubt in my mind Mike Tyson would destroy Bruce Lee, maybe not quickly but theres no way he could lose. You gotta think, Tyson was a beast back in his prime, he was quick and POWERFUL and remarkably agile for his size and he was taking blows to the head from real life heavyweights.

Are you gonna tell me Bruce Lees punches were that much stronger than that of world class boxers? Wait wait wait, I just had a vision of Lee doing a crazy strong sidekick and Tyson not knowing what the hell to do. Mike wouldnt know how to defend against a real martial artist. How was Bruce lee with grapples?

This is a tough call. If Tyson got on top of Bruce somehow it would be over, if he landed a punch and let fists fly it would be over. Oh and I dont think Bruce sparred Ali, he did train Kareem Abdul Jabar and Chuck Norris though.

I wouldnt think he would try to block his punches. He used to study Jack Dempsey & Muhammed Ali, and other boxers. He would know better than to do something stupid like that.

It's just sheer mass and strength with some serious speed versus a little guy with great technique. At some point (say 3 seconds in this case..) technique is just not going to matter. Ant vs. brickwall..ant can run but the wall is just going to come down on him like a tsunami eating a surfer.

If Mike Tyson connects its over, but if Bruce was smart and utilized his kicks to Tysons legs while avoiding punches. Bruce cant win in a striking match but given how smart he was he couldve thought of something. If you put in a top Boxer in a ring with a top MMA fighter, the MMA fighter isnt gonna try to exchange strikes, he'll end up losing. He's gonna utilize his more well rounded fighting game to win.

The fight would barely consist of any contact the first few moments. Bruce would be hopping circles around Tyson, while Tyson would be head-down-hands-up. Dont you think Lee would be smart enough to realize that one well developed punch from that big gorilla would break him?? He wouldnt try and block anything man wtf, he would try dodging everything. It would be a cat and mouse game, and Lee was definately quicker than Mike Tyson. Tyson relied on quick knockouts in most of his fights, I figure if this went on long enough and if enough missed punches were thrown Lee could somehow take advantage of a tired and slowed Mike Tyson. Have you ever seen one of Bruce Lees jumping side kicks? Imagine Tysons strongest punch x3. No joke.

Like it said its a tough call. But just to make it clear and obvious, if Lee had a weapon this would all be a laughing matter. If Tyson had a weapon it would still be a laughing matter because Lee would just take it from him and start beating him with it.

It would obviously be Bruce Lee... Tyson would not be able to catch him, thus Lee would be able to stay out of range of punches while landing kicks at will.

And if you know Tyson, he wasn't too great after round 6 or so. And that is with a 1 minute rest between rounds...

EDIT: Also, Tyson in his prime never really fought any quality heavyweights. The one he did fight was Buster Douglas, who knocked his ass out.

Tyson wouldn't win... it's an art of death vs pure sport. Tyson can take hits from gloved hands, but I doubt he can take a kick to the face that's designed to do serious fvckin damage and/or kill. And no way is Tyson going to be faster than Lee... come on, half the reason the man was famous was for his speed. And whoever said Lee hasn't ever been in a real competiton fight is retarded... Do you think he grew up studying martial arts so he can look flashy for a camera? They picked him up for films cause he was so damn good at it.

Lee hands down, I don't think people appreciate how strong Lee really was, speed wise Tyson couldn't keep up with him.
