My offensive meter is at about eh, a 3. I understand where he was going with it, but what he said was a sloppy mess - no pun. I wonder what the ratings are like for Huck. Not the greatest right now I guess.
 
It's not a particularly flattering thing for Huckabee to say, but what did he say after making this comment below:

So maybe it's just me reading that differently, but I'm not actually reading that as Huckabee saying himself that, but instead Huckabee saying that as if that were facetiously saying that from a democratic perspective. That's why I want to know what was said afterwards. What was the whole conversation here? What did Huckabee really say?

Yes, I'm defending Huckabee here, but only because I want to know the whole conversation. As a reader, I have to know the point Huckabee was making. The comment was still pretty tasteless... I wouldn't have personally used that as an example, but I still want to know what was actually said here.

Did you see that video where the guy says a gun fires 30 magazines per second then corrects himself to say 30 bullets per second (which is still wrong) and uses the words clip and magazine interchangeably? I can understand saying clip 100% of the time, but this is weird. It's like when people spell a word several different ways instead of being consistent.

He wasn't putting words in their mouth. He was interpreting what their actions are really saying.

If someone repeatedly advocates for policies to bailout women is it a stretch to imagine that that person thinks women cannot stand by themselves?

I think we can safely say that the OP failed at interpretation of what Huckabee was saying.
