I built a new computer for my son with essentially all new parts and have it up and running.

What is the easiest way to get the dozens of games and saves etc from his old computer to the new one? I planned on doing a file save/transfer via windows but if my recollection is right it won't handle the games. I can't just move the hard drive because I have raid set up on the new computer and a different storage HDD for the new one and I need the old HDD to sell his old computer.

1. copy all game program files to the new computer, but will loose I loose ability to remove the program via uninstall.... also initializing of program to better settings may not take advantage of better components?
2. Reinstall games from cdrom and figure out what the save and settings files are?
3. Any other suggestion?

I never had to move this much stuff and am just wondering how to do it. Didn't know if I should post in software or general hardware.

thanks

Well even if you are talking 50 games, I would just copy the savegame folders and move them on to the new computer. Then install the games as he wants to play them (if he is old enough to do that himself all the better).

EDIT: then of course copying the old savegame folders over the newly installed ones..

I agree the easiest way would be to burn your savegame folders and reinstall the games on the other comp. There probably is a better way but this is nice, simple and easy.

Some games won't work without being installed, so #1 is out.
Just reinstall games as you need them, and then copy over the save games.

well some games when you uninstall, it asksif you want to keep the save game files. might be an easy way to pick out what you need so you dont need to burn a bunch of cds
