I have no idea what my triggers are - they really just come out of the blue. I used to use Imitrex, but it really wasn't doing anything for me. I am now prescribed to butalbital (generic of fioricet) and take it as soon as the visual aura starts and its gone within 20 minutes. It's pretty good stuff.

I have a constant 24/7 migrane that never goes away, and highly medicated for, and so far they say they cannot find the cause, or because IM on welfare dont give a shit and wish for me to die of what ever is causing it because it will be cheaper for them when Im dead. Im going with the latter ;) And because Im on the system I cant just go changing dosctors because it took me 6 months and a seizure to get the crappy nero doc I got.

For me I dont have the normal migraine like you and others get, sound doesnt make it worse, nor light, and it doesnt make me feel as though Im going to puke. But I have heard for people that do get those kinds that coffee, energy drinks, sugar substitute, and even your glasses if you wear them if dirty all the time, or slightly off the prescription will cause a migraine. Watch some tv shows, with flashing lights can cause it as well. The thing to do is try and remember what it was you were doing last when they started to come on, and the next time, as much as you hate pain, you need to o the exact same thing one more time. If you get a Migraine again after that, then you know the cause and you need to try to cut it out, or find a different way around it so that you wont get another one from that ever again.

Sorry to hear that. My wife has constant 24/7 head pain that is migraine-like but it is caused by Occipital Neuralgia. She's had it for about 12 years. No pain meds she has tried have worked. She's pretty miserable.

I take Imitrex.

Same with me. I was getting them about once a week, but have found better ways to manage my stress, and I avoid all processed foods. Down to about once per month.

my trigger is MSG in foods. Everybody's different and everybody changes as they age... so don't think that just because you don't have allergies now, they won't develop later. I used to eat foods with MSG all the time, now... not so much.

Me too. I would rather die than have a migraine beacuse of MSG. I have become VERY knowledgable about what foods have it, what not to eat, where not to eat. I have been able to keep them down, but every so often, I get a very debilitating one and I am out for about two days.

OP, you should go to a neurologist or even a primary care physican to get real migraine meds. Advil, exedrin don't do anything for me. Good luck though.

Well, I've been reading on them and it could be cluster headaches. It feels like there's a nail through my skull right behind my left eye. Also, the top center of my head and my neck and shoulders hurt. Some stretching helped a little.

Advil usually does help, and I just got back from the store. Hopefully I'll be able to go to sleep once it kicks in.

I don't think you have cluster headache because if you did you would not be here typing away. I use to get cluster headaches and it used to reduce me to a mass of quivering flesh screaming in agony on the floor. I am lucky and have been free of them for over 10 years now. Back then, I used a variety of drugs to try to relieve the pain including oxygen, vessel constricting drugs, morphine and even steroid. The problem with steroid is that I suffered severe side effects and ended up needing a hip replacement on my right side. Anyway, thank god this is all behind me now.

OP you most likely have a brain tumor. Go see a Doctor ASAP.

(Sometimes you have to scare the shit outta someone to get them to do what they should have done when the problem started)

That's how I was at about 2 or 3am. I actually kept some oxycodone from the doctor for when those happened. It helped.

How do you manage the stress?
