Migraines - how often does it happen to you?

After awhile, taking Tylenol 500 is like eating candy. The doctor suggested that I take Motrin instead. Anybody used anything stronger for migraines? Sometimes when I wake up I totally black out for like a few seconds. The doctor tested my pressure and said I wasn't low or anything??

How often do you guys have headaches/migrains?

My spouse gets them sporadically. A few in a couple weeks, then a break. Takes Imitrex, Zomig, or Axert for them depending on what time of day it is.

I don't know if they qualify as migranes but I've had headaches that gave me dry heaves and had me convinced I was giving birth to Athena.

The only thing that causes migraines for me is very bright light (a bright day, driving into the sun, etc); I try to avoid that as much as possible, so I don't get them very often, maybe three times a year.

Your doctor sucks if he isn't investigating your headaches further and just tells you to take ibuprofen. Go see a new doctor.

All the time. I had a migraine that lasted for 2 weeks recently and it was a killer. Turns out it was caused by carbon monoxide poisoning!

Thats a migraine. It tends to get you nauseous to exactly below the threshold of outright puking.

Yeah, it was bad. My fiancee found me curled up on the hallway floor(hurt so bad I couldn't move). She managed to get me to the bed and put some cold packs on my eyes....eventually I passed out. By far the worst headache I've ever had. This was about 2 months ago.

He did asked me if I felt like vomitting and I said I didn't. The only time that I had a killer headache and really puked my brains out was about the first time I smelled gasoline.

I don't do well in bright lights either. Or noisy environments. I tend to get very stressed when all I hear is everyone around me talking and I can't hear or understand the client on the phone, or actually hear myself talk. I would say partially it is work related. Add to the fact that I haven't changed my glasses in 4 years, and the fact that the company uses LCDs with native resolution of 1024*768 yet we're stuck with using 800*600 and the screens are blurry as hell. Yet no one else complains about that fact and I couldn't do anything about it.

I used to have a couple of Migraine headache "outbreaks"... Ever since I got Chiropractic therapy, it went from few to none. 🙂

some of you people need to find your triggers. I used to have them once every couple of months until I figured out it was too much MSG too often that was causing it. I cut it out for the most part (no chinese foods especially) and I don't have migraines anymore. I keep some prescription Zomig with me at all times just in case... that's how bad they could be. Nausea, sensitivity to light/noise... can't even lie down and rest... as my head is heavy and no position helps. Just basically a feeling that I'd rather die.

Find your triggers... write down what you eat, what you did, etc. on the day / before the migraine set in. I'm glad I only suffered for 3 years of my life..

All I know is since I started reading the labels on food and cut out the MSG, I stopped getting headaches.

yes, it's also in some cheeses and I eat pizza and other cheeses like there's no tomorrow but it doesnt' affect me as badly as chinese foods' MSG. I think the "natural" stuff isn't as potent.

On a side note, I walked down the street in Flushing last weekend and outside a chinese restaurant was a barrel as high as my thighs that said monosodium glutamate on the side. Unbelievable... poison in a barrel. 😉
