When I was younger, probably early teens, I used to get migraines about once a week but as I've gotten older the frequency has diminished quite a bit, I guess I sort of "grew out of them."

Now I get them about 2x a year, and I always know when it is going to happen because I lose all periperal vision, I guess what others call the migraine halo or aura. Wish me luck in about 30 minutes when it hits :(

One of my waitress had that.

It's sad that with all the supposedly advanced medicine and technology we have, there's nothing we can do to treat it.

Stupid helpless doctors just say, "Yeah... just ride it out for life."

Do you take any scrips or OTC meds for them? If not, try Excedrin migraine (or just regular Excedrin w/ a cup of tea or coffee). I have regular migraines, so I understand your pain... :(

Imitrex, stat.

I love it when I get what you are describing. I take an Imitrex right then and I don't get the migraine.
What I hate is waking up at 2:00 AM with them. Too late to stave it off.

yeah, I hope it doesn't get to the point of puking, hate when that happens as I am also a violent vomiter. But hey! Vision is back, which means it's only a matter of time before it hits now

I'm not looking forward to tomorrow either. Seems like every time I bend down or move my head quickly the day after I have a migraine, I'm met with what feels like a hammer hitting me in the head where the bulk of the migraine pain was the day before

Two advil as soon as you feel it coming on.

They suck - I've been getting them since probably about 8 years old. Find your triggers - mine is, of all things... sunlight. I can't be outside in direct sunlight for too long without having taken something for the day. Also physical exertion will bring it on for me, especially coupled with sunlight. All I know is I've had migraines for so long (never put two and two together) now that I can no longer take aspirin for even a minor ache. To touch a regular headache, I would have to take about 5 or 6 aspirin. I've since graduated to ibuprofin or naproxin sodium (advil/alieve respectively).

When it gets really bad, if I haven't been in the position to take anything to stem it early on when I feel it coming, usually it's 2 advil as soon as possible, a cold compress on my head over my eyes, laying down in a dark room. Usually an hour or so later I can get back up on my feet.
