A combination of education, protection, awareness and detection. We know how it can spread, we know how to *mostly* prevent it, and most of us have easy access to a testing center to see if we do or do not carry it.

And if we do actually get it, we have access to drugs and medical treatments that can almost completely prevent HIV from turning into the full blown AIDs virus.

Oh well, just another 2/10 rant.

condoms and the fact that aids is not passed much from mother to child due to the drugs available in the U.S.

The HIV adult prevalence rate is .6% here. Thats significantly higher than other top nations such as Germany at .1%, Netherlands at .2% Japan less than .1%, Poland .1%, China .1%, Canada .3%, Ireland .1%, Sweden .1% and many more.

The United States has the 69th highest HIV adult prevalence rate out of 168 countries. Thats pretty high for a developed nation.

The United States adult HIV prevalence rate is more than 5x that of many nations.

.6% of adults might not seem high, but

A lot of old people do not have HIV and there are a ton of old people in the US. So if you remove anyone over 55, the adult prevalence rate rises very high.

Out of curiousity...What percentage of that .6% is homosexuals vs heterosexuals?

Well my statement was fact. It was meant in 100% seriousness.

If you don't hang out with low lifes, you probably don't need to worry about getting AIDS.

Yeah, but New York also has around 8 million people, closer to 20 if you count the suburbs.

And sleep party? I've never heard of that one.

lol... you'd be suprised. but, ignorance is bliss i guess...

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/quer...PubMed&list_uids=7755917&dopt=Abstract

Poor people are 4 times as likely to get AIDS than upper middle class people. And this is Los Angeles, where a LARGE portion of the population is gay. And an even larger portion is very "sexually promiscuous." A lot of gay people are educated and have decent incomes, which is why a good number of well off people in LA get AIDS.

Now imagine what the statistics would be like in a normal city where there are less gays and less people who "sleep around." Poor people are probably 10 - 20 more likely to get AIDS than higher income people in normal cities.

So I'm missing where they put in their study, if you are poor you are a dirtbag. Also I'm missing where the population of LA is largely gay. Could you point that out to me? I was also under the impression the content of one's character determined if they were respectable. I could be wrong, can you tell me why people that have money are automatically amazing people? Thanks.

What JLGatsby was trying to say, i think, is that poor people are not respectable.

Either that or he was just trolling... :gasp;

Could you point out to me where I said all rich people are amazing people?

Could you also provide a link to the exact requirements of being deemed a "dirtbag?"

That name is objective. You may say only one portion of the population is a "dirtbag," I may say another or a larger portion of the population is a "dirtbag."

When I said "low lifes" or "dirtbags," I was only saying to stay away from people with bad habits. It wasn't an exact scientific statement.
