Might I ask why AIDs isn't more common in the US...

I overheard a college student last night talking about a random sleep party and how he ended up with a freshmen girl.

After I heard that I started wondering why our younger generations aren't riddled with AIDs! It seems like college is a "free love" environment and that seems unsafe to me. Especially if most of them are stone drunk when they have this "party!"

Oh well, just another 2/10 rant.

well protected sex for one....and it's not very common among whites. And the CDC stats on it's initial baseline prevalence in teh U.S. may be extremely overblown

The spread of AIDS in places like Africa are due to people having various other STD's that make it easier for the virus to spread. Getting HIV from a one night stand is very difficult, especially for men, even if no protection is used. However, if you have an open sore on your genitals, the "transfer" rate is a lot higher.

That and we don't have superstitious beliefs like they do in Africa that results in the disease spreading faster. There was one in Africa that said that if you have HIV and have sex with a virgin then you'll be cured. Think that helped much?

Throw in higher education levels and better medical care as well.

AIDS is spread more easily through unprotected anal sex - that's pretty much the reason why you don't see AIDS all over the place on college campuses. Now, the gay community is another story.

More than half of the population who become affected by the AIDS virus do not report their illness until their immune system completely fails to ward off sicknesses of all kinds.

In accord to this, HIV-related illnesses will become AIDS overtime due to their ignorance of knowing they have just transmitted an incurable disease.

This generation today will devour itself in the years to come if what is being recognized as AIDS isn't taken seriuosly by both adults and young adults, including youth/teenagers.

Ofcourse, parents will rarely speak of this, because they assume schools will teach them about this sort of stuff, but only half of what schools offer as far as sex education is about the diseases, and less about keeping your clothes on when you're dating someone and having premarital sexual relations.
