ok, dont get sony, get the toshiba, big deal its that thick look at an alien ware notebook. 1.35 if fine. sony is bad they try to get the hard dirty in everything,Get a Toshiba better build, A friend in school dropped his sony it cracked open and 8 screws poped out. My other friends Toshiba flew like 100feet and landed and its plastic was uncliped but it all cliped back and worked like nothing happened.

QFT. I see a bunch of Toshiba's on campus at USF (not as many as the Dells, but still :p) and I wonder why TF people buy those crappy things. Go buy a Dell or an HP; Asus is good stuff too.

Funny, I dont feel sorry for you.

BUahahahaha! Man great post!

Op: Do you ever think before 1. Posting and 2. Purchasing?

I'd assume you did as I believe you mentioned it in your post but I can only think otherwise since your thread title is "Might have laptop buyers remorse". Look this is what you should have done.

1. Ask on a forum
2. Buy an IBM X32
or
Buy a fujitsu 10.4" Screen size model (after reading reviews)
3. No complain about the fact it's too thick or large
4. No post about the fact that it's too thick or large.

Now since the past is the past, are you still able to return the laptop?
I just seriously can't feel sorry for people who believe that they need a fancysmancy processor just to type papers or to look at porn.

I always forget which is more important. Thickness or length.

Length is worse, I'll take a 3 inch laptop that has a 10.4" wide screen ANYDAY over a cumbersome 15"/19" .5" thick laptop. I know because I own a 15' 1" thick laptop and it's very cumbersome, It's nice and everything I wanted but at the same time doesnt' have nearly the portability that I could get with an X series laptop or one of those 10" notebooks.

if you read one of my posts above i mention why i wanted a C2D. And the one one in this toshiba is a T5200, the lowest of the 2mb L2 models so no i didn't get a "fancymancy" cpu, they list this notebook on the site with a T7200 and i knew that before purchasing.
also i did do my research since i knew this was one of 2 laptops with a C2D and a 12.1" screen (in the US anyway) and therefor was stuck between this and the dell. Also the bbest buy guy would not dismount it from the desk so i could hold it or go put next to the sony 13.3 just to compare. I didn't realize how big it really was until i brought it home and held it, and my friend came over took onelook and said "sh1t that is big"

yes i can take it back for another 12 more days. I am thinking of doing so especially now that they released info saying free windows vista upgrades will be handed out after october 26th, that alone is reason to take it back.

i looked at the fujistsu 10.4 at Fry's and you are right the size is real nice, length, width, and height, not sure if the screen is too large or not but none of the internals match what i want.

You don't future proof laptops, there isn't going to be an application in the future that is going to require significantly more CPU processing power than GPU power besides that bloated POS excuse of an OS called 'vista'. And considering that you're getting an ultraportable laptop, you're definately not going to be able to 'future proof it' with video gaming in mind. Dual core IMO belongs on the desktop, has no purpose in laptops unless it's one of those 'gaming' machines.

Also, the WORST CASE SCENARIO you could upgrade the processor, which I really doubt you're going to need to do..
