might be time to get a mac

The Asus U1 uses an LED backlight. You'll probably see more notebooks with LED backlights as the Centrino Pro platform is released and as the technology becomes more mature and less expensive to add onto notebooks.

To the best of my knowledge, the LED backlights aren't actually in teh machines yet... that article seems to give the impression that they are, but I haven't seen anything else to confirm it. It would be great if they are, LED is pretty nifty

well according to the article "Apple's 15.4-inch MacBook Pro line of laptops are already using the new panels, and the new 13.3-inch certifications indicate that Apple will be transitioning its MacBook line soon. " but i dont really follow macs at all, so who knows if the macbook pros have them now or not.

^The 15.4 inch MBP's don't have the LED screens yet, but they're going to be the first Apple Notebooks to get them since Apple has begun placing orders for the screens. Here's some info:

ThinkSecret claims that Apple has indeed placed an order for 15.4-inch LED backlit displays targeting a June announcement at WWDC.

According to the rumor site, Apple placed an order for over 100,000 15.4-inch LED displays in April for a delivery schedule in May. This would provide adequate lead in time for a June ship date. Meanwhile, orders for 13.3-inch LED screens are reportedly being considered for 3rd Quarter roll-out.

LED Backlit screens are awesome, lower power consumption, no need for a FL Inverter, the list goes on. The only one ive used though is on a Toshiba Libretto, little tiny thing uses the type of screen, this was a couple years ago though, at the time they were still working on getting LED backlit screens much bigger, this one was only about 5 - 6 inches, if thats happened now and they are getting bigger screens in production for use, i would keep an eye out for some Toshiba's that may start using them as well.

With Leopard scheduled for release later this year and LED-backlit screens hitting soon, all the pieces seem to be falling in place for my first dive into Mac territory!
