OK, I'm starting classes on tuesday - problem is, I have no schedule...I haven't registered for one class.

I recently decided to switch majors and by the time I made my mind up, all of my classes were full, and I mean *all* of them

So I've been told by many people that I can get in to all of my classes by asking the professor for an override, and from what I've been told, this isn't a big deal and that many others in my position at one time were fine with doing this. I need some more insight here, has anyone else ever gotten an override for their classes and be safe for the semster? I'm worried that one or two professors will turn me down and I'll end up with either too few classes, or a junky schedule...any help here guys?? I'm wicked worried :(

Beats me, but you better hurry up and start talking to your professors. Good Luck:)

some of my friends kind of did the same thing. They just sat in on the first lecture, and when class was over, they just walked over to the Prof and asked if he would add him in to his class. Most of the time, if you explain how important that class is to you and how you *need* to have his class *this* semester, it should work out fine.

It depends on the class if you can get an override or not. I remember in my english class last semester we had 10 people who wanted an override and the class was already full so the prof didn't allow anyone else to join the class. In some of my other classes it's easy to get an override. Sometimes people drop their classes during the first week also so you have to keep rechecking to see if you can register for those.

The best bet is to talk to the advisor or like the chairman of the deptartment. I've gotten into many classes that were full just by talking to the chairman of the departments in my college.

Go in to the classes you want to sign up for naked on the first day. That ought to open up some spots.

Quite the contrary, my gorgeous body would only encourage everyone to stay :p

Well I'm sure you can find someone here to take up the task for you. Just make sure they don't shave until then.

Although with that attitude you just might find people leaving anyway. No one likes cockiness.

haha I went to umass amherst, guess they are all alike. anyway, just to go classes on the first day of school, and continue to try to add those classes during the add drop period. or have the professors sign the override form. no biggie. unless they are all upper level classes, and you haven't met the prerequisite. Good luck!

Should be no problem getting yourself added to a lecture type class. Basically, as long as no fire codes are violated, it shouldn't be a big deal. Problem is with lab based classes, where there can only be so many students due to equipment limitations.
