I swear on the surface it looks exactly the same as 5. And I hated 5.

Also, its Ubisoft, which means I wont be getting it anyway. Those guys are evil.
But thanks for the demo link. It will be nice to know what I'm missing.

It feels a lot different from 5, no hidden treasures, no rotating camera, and the AI seem to work really well. The demo includes 2 Campaign maps + 1 skirmish map wher you can play 4 different factions heaven, inferno, necro and some samurai/water theme faction.

I'm in thanks for the link. I liked 5 except for the fact that the last level was impossible. Pissed me off :(

The last HoMM I liked was 3. Four totally changed the gameplay, and it felt like those Starcraft levels where you have X units and progress - very little of the old school 'chess-like' strategy. The worst was probably the AI however - no longer any challenge.

I'll try the demo, but I'm skeptical it will be anything but great.

I thought 5 was fun, the gameplay was pretty similar to 3 in a lot of ways. Anyway I've played every HOMM game that's come out so I'll try this one out for sure.

As bad as it might sound, I'm a little more interested in Might & Magic Clash of Heroes

Why the heck does it have these for system requirements . . .

# OS: Windows 7
# Processor: 2.0 GHz Intel® Core™2 Duo or AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 6000+ or better
# Memory: 2 GB
# Graphics: 512 MB DirectX 9.0-compliant card with Shader Model 3.0 or higher (*see supported list)
# DirectX®: DirectX 9.0c or higher
# Hard Drive: 1.6 GB

And look like this?

I always chuckle when people say that 5 sucked. I loved 3 but always thought 5 was it's equal or a hair better.

Still, I'd be more interested in the next King's Bounty :)

I've stopped supporting Ubisoft a couple of years ago. And with the way they've been making headlines with their bait/switch DRM tactics with From Dust and other titles I refuse to ever buy one of their products.

DRM is the bane of PC gaming.

I'll just get the game from another source and be free to play the game however I chose to.

DRM is the bane of PC gaming.

I'll just steal the money and labor of the game from another source and be free to play the game however I chose to.

Fixed.

It's stealing. You are free not to play it.

Yeah, sorry, but that's bullshit. I hate Ubisoft and DRM too, but the answer is "don't play the game", not "steal it".

HOMM (or MMH) VI is DRM free, but some material is on only available if you're online while playing. I think it's called 'Conflux'

anyone else having problems with maps scrolling to the right by itself???

NM it fixed itself...

and WTF, this is almost identical to 5. one improvement is AI turn time. that was one of the most annoying things about 5.

The Conflux is an area on the adventure map which when you click it it opens a chat window to talk to other HoMM players, so yes, you have to be online.

I've been playing the beta, and I don't think there is an offline mode. In fact, a couple of times when there has been a hiccup with my internet connection, I have been unceremoniously dropped to the main screen. It's not a big deal, since the game autosaves after every turn, but it is a bit jarring.

I really like the game. In fact, it is my favorite of the year so far. I have been a fan of the franchise since the very beginning, and it seems like they have changed just enough to keep the game fresh and inviting while at the same time not changing so much that old die-hards like me will get pissed off.

lol, i was late for an appointment because i was actually enjoying the game so much. it's not homm3, but it's a definite step up from homm4 and homm5.
