Midnight Club II video disappearing???

After playing the game for about 20 minutes or so, my monitor will randomly turn off and the game will stop playing entirely. Its very bizzarre and at first I attributed this to my video card being overclocked, but after bringing it down to default speeds I still get this problem. Anyone have any ideas?
 
I had problems with it when I first installed....

I updated to the newest version of DirectX and my vid drivers.
