midiland 4060 sub muffled

i have a midiland 4060 and the subwoofer seems distant/muffled. I tried playing with the volume settings both on my computer and the speaker system but no go. It's a soundblaster 128 and this just started happening today. tried some reboots and whatnot. mostly using winamp w/dfx but nothing has changed. both satelites seem fine.

Any thoughts?

check all of the physical connections? maybe the wires aren't connecting right, is there anything in front of the sub/has its location changed any since it last worked normally?

Yup, all the connections seem ok. And nothing has changed nor is anything blocking it.

Something else I forgot to mention...If I have something playing while it's off, then turn it on, it sounds normal for a fraction of a second, then goes back to being muffled. Not sure if that's relevant.

I dunno, unless you have changed some software? have you tried latest chipset and sound card drivers? the sub may be going bad, how long have you had it? is it rma'able?
