<< I have never busted a cap, but once I ordered a nice product from Victoria's Secret so that I could cap a bust. >>

Hey, some of them are so pointy, they could be weapons anyway. I bet someone could lose an eye on one of those cones. :Q

Satire about people or institutions who choose to do the things they do is just fine with me. Satire or making jokes about people who have no choice is simply cruel. It's protected speach, but it's cruel protected speach and I will call anybody on this board about it whenever I see it.

Peace.:)

I feel it's fair game to make fun of something that a person chooses to do. I feel jews, gays, and fat people are great targets to make fun of. :) I won't make fun of someone if it's something that they can't help, but if they choose to be that way, then why not?

Can we make fun of people who are so clearly obtuse that they display an unprecedented level of ignorance about the definition of "choice"?

AaronP,

Sorry to make you reach for a dictionary. In the future, I'll dumb it down in the threads where you're participating.

That's sad that you feel the need to make fun of anyone at all. I guess without that activity you'd only have your sorry self to think about.

At my age, Colleen, as long as they don't point toward my knees, I'm happy. ;)

You know it is still quite acceptable to make fun of bald people.

And to add insult to injury, they are expected to be good sports and laugh along with the jokes.

How can you make fun of someone who can't stand up for themselves?

I understand how this could apply to the mentally retarded perhaps but how can you say that midgets can't speak out for themselves?

Think of it as a physical ailment...look at all the rights people with AIDs and the physically handicapped got by protesting

Racism and laughing (humour) are two defense mechanisms against the perils of this world.

Racism probably originates in the behaviour of a group where the physically and/or mentally impaired individuals are rejected from the group because they endanger the whole group (predators) or are unable to take part in normal social and other behaviour (during the hunt, in the group etc.).
The weakest die, the others live. It's the reason why populations are so successful.

Of course, in our society it's no longer necessary to reject the weaker individuals, but still we continue to do so. We're still animals. Animals with self-awareness and 'intelligence', but nonetheless animals.

Truly. My 8th grade teacher told me a long time ago that in a hunter-gatherer society, everyone who wears glasses would be dead...I wish i could have phrased that less awkwardly but whatever
