Middleschool Yearbook

My 11yr olds middleschool is expecting parents to shell out $60 for a yearbook.

Is that the norm ?

I can understand yearbook in the final year ... but in middle-school ?

Any thoughts ?

$60 is too much. Tell your child to wait until next September when the book will be available to steal out of the school library.

I remember our High school raconteurs were around 55 dollars each year but they were hard covered and nicely bound just like a regular book, and the quality of the pages were good too, so it was worth it. I don't think I really bothered getting one in middle school except in maybe 8th grade (and they were way less then 60 dollars) since it was the last year before moving on to HS. I mean, it's not like you're gonna see your classmates next year, or the year after that, or the year after that, etc.

/cue people who had a good friend move away in middle school and wished they had bought a year book to remember them by
//Although, if they were a good friend then I hope you wouldn't need a year book to remember them by

Depends how big the middle school is and the size of the year book. I have no idea what mine cost, but I still have all three. They are only about 1/3" thick...I think all three are still less than the size of one high school one.

$60 is nothing for the memories your kid will have looking back and sharing with their own family / kids.

wow thats far to much.

though my highschool yearbooks were $50 or so. but they were nice books.

no way would i pay that much for a middleschool book.

On the other hand, if one of the kids commits suicide before eighth grade picture day, your child won't have anything to remember the kid by.

My high school yearbook was like $45. I paid less than $20 for all my middle school yearbooks (each).

I don't even know where my high school yearbook is. Put a poll in this thread: how many people still have yearbooks from middle school? How about high school?
