For this subject, I would simply tell the OP: ignorance is bliss.

Do people want to know the nitty-grittys about how their friends/co-workers/family clean their ass? Not really. As long as they are clean people in general, you go about your day without worry.

It was a legit question. I know nothing about middle eastern culture, and I'm always afraid of doing something wrong. A couple of weeks ago I almost got tackled because I was about to walk into the temple area with shoes on...I had no idea you needed to take your shoes off when entering. Since then I ask about everything I don't know about so it doesn't get me in trouble later ;)

Well I don't see how you would get tackled...you normally just tell the person to take his shoes off. You don't wear shoes in a temple because it is disrespectful. On another note, having your feet touch a book is considered disrespectful too since books represent knowledge, and knowledge is revered at the same level as God. To hindu's anyway.

As for not getting your pants/shoes wet...I wouldnt know as I've never seen that arrangement in a public washroom with toilets. Usually its at people's houses?
