All good choices. I'd take the Acadia. Best looking of them all (by far, IMO) and it's really well put together.

Highlander would be my choice of those 3, but honestly I'd take a 4Runner over a Highlander any day. Truck based SUV instead of car based and it still handles like a car on the road, and still handles like a truck offroad. Highlander does offer hybrid option though so that's something to think about.

My mom has a Highlander and a gal at work as a Pilot. The Pilot seems to be a little larger feeling, but the seats (cloth) are uber comfortable. Probably the most comfy car seats I've sat in (excluding old Cadillacs). The Highlander has a nicer interior IMO, more solid feeling.

Serious question - family size, utility requirements for SUV vs. tall wagon/minivan?

- M4H

what did he name that isn't a tall wagon/minivan?

Base on exterior styling, I will take the Acadia. I sat on one at the last car show, it was nice but the sticker price on that one was almost $40K and I won't pay that much for GMC.

The Pilot has too small tires IMO and Highlander is too small to be call mid size. I think the 4Runner is more in the mid size class.

Looking at the highest trim levels for each. Anyone got any experience with these?

I test drove the Saturn Outlook (same car as the Acadia) and the Mazda CX9, liked both, i think mb you would test drive a mazda as well.

saturn is HUGE tho.

ya I was thinking about the Mazda as well. Might try to make it to a dealership this weekend.

Already test drove the Pilot and the Hyundai Veracruz. Really liked the Pilot. The Hyundai wasn't bad (we drive a Sonata right now), but the interior did not feel like a $30,000+ car. Hard to describe, but the interior of the Honda and the Hyundai were no comparison.

I really like the look of the Acadia/Outlook, but haven't seen it inside. Really like the Pilot. The Highlander is nice, but too small for what I'd want (although the wife would love a Hybrid model).

also, look at the Ford Edge / Lincoln MKX unless you really need the 7/8 passenger seating. the Ford / Lincoln gives the back row of seats AMAZING legroom vs the other mid size you listed because basically it's the same size SUV with 1 fewer row of seats, it also has a lot of "trunk" space.

the Lincoln will set you back almost 40k but it is very nicely equiped.

i.e. the tires are not "proportional" with the whole body of that SUV. It looks like the whole tire/wheel sets are for something else smaller ..like CRV or RAV4..<bodywise speaking>.

We were in the same boat a few weeks ago but between the Acadia and the new Jeep Grand Cherokee CRD. Since both those vehicles were brand new there werent any deals to be had. We ended up picking up a 2007 Cadillac SRX. They have been out for awhile and you can get some serious discounts, ended up getting a near loaded one for less than an Acadia cost.

Good luck

In that same price range, look at the Subaru Tribeca as well. It's a bit fugly, but it's a Subaru.
