Mid range

I'm passing on my current setup and making orders to build my next PC, but i'm stuck on a decision for a card. I'm mostly a mid range kinda of guy and i'm looking for something between 150-250. It seems the current mid range Nvidia card seems to be the 560Ti. But is there any news on a 600 series mid range card coming out soon? I'm currently using a 6770 which if i remember correctly was just a rebadged 5770 right? This card will be moving with the pc but is there much of a difference between the 6770 Vs the 560TI? Also what is the current AMD mid range offering?(7770?) I'm going to be sticking with the IGP4000 for now until i finally make a decision.

I'm gaming @ 1920x1080
Mostly stuff like Mass Effect, The Witcher, Various MMOS, FPS, I Have Diablo on Preorder, Various RTS that i waste time with. Anything i can find cheap on Steam. The rest of the PC is standard Mid range stuff Gigabyte UD3H, 8 gigs of ram, 600w corsair PSU, i'm floundering back and forth about the CPU maybe a 3450 or a 3750 which Microcenter has a great deal on.

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

AMD 7850 if you want midrange for $250. You can get top tier performance out of it if you're willing to OC. NVIDIA won't have any current gen cards in that price range for some time.

And i do happen to be a fan of XFX stuff. Most of the time i switch back and forth every Gen and as i have departed from my dear 6770 i was looking to switch to NV for this Current gen, but some rules are meant to be broken. Still no information at all about the 600 series mid range stuff for NV? Isnt the mid range sector where the real money is it? The 670 does look yummy though.

Nvidia wouldn't be able to deliver a midrange card with the current yields and TSMC wafer priority. It's scheduled for Q3 (july august) as far as I know...

If you're a fan of XFX, they have a pretty good 7850 card with a 7870 pcb up, should be a good buy. As for nvidia, you'll either have to cough up enough for a 670 or wait a few months.

While I may not be a fan of Nvidia's hardware (bumpgate stung), I do believe they are masters of die harvesting and I'm sure they'll be creative with any dies which fail for 670/680. Therefore if 660TI is based on GK104, Nvidia might be able surprise with a earlier than July launch and depending on how their failed 670/680 dies land they might even have decent supplies although if the 670 is any indication they'll be on a really cheap dinky PCB usually seen in <$100 cards. The 660s based on the other Kepler die (GK108?) will most likely be quiet crippled I think although to call them 660s they may have to give them high clock speeds.

Having said that, the 7850 is in OP's budget and it sure sounds like a fun card. And unlike Kepler it is more 'balanced' in that it's not just a gaming card. For whatever that's worth.

GTX670 is high end, performs within an inch of GTX680 and toe-to-toe with AMD 7970.

Midrange cards are in AMD's hands. The way I see it there are two options: HD6870 for $150-160 AR or Sapphire HD7850 for $250. XFX's 7850 is more expensive than Sapphire's, and Sapphire's cooler is better
