Mid-engine Mercedes McLaren P8 aims for supercar playground in 2008

Still, only offering with an auto. Wouldn't you love to have 700hp+ and a manual, or are supercar owners not really driving enthusiasts?

No, Mercedes engineers are just to pussified to build a decent manual tranny that can handle some torque in a passenger car.

A) Awesome to see Mercedes throwing it's hat into the mid-engined supercar arena. With Ford, Lamborghini, Audi, and Ferrari all pushing for sales, competition has become quite stiff in this price segment.
B) The car needs a real manual transmission, whether its solenoid or traditional pedal actuated. Spending millions upon millions further developing a "high-tech" automatic transmission isn't necessary, IMO.
C) Holy crap, that car is ugly.
D) Based purely on looks, I would buy (in order of my personal taste) the Gallardo, GT, 360 Modena, LeMans, ........, P8.
