Micrsoft 802.11b PC Card+Laptop speakers

I have the Microsoft Wireless PC Card (MN-520) and I am using it in my Compaq Presario 1200 laptop. When it's sending and receiving network traffic, the speakers make a crackling noise that is unavoidable, even if the volume is turned all the way down. Anyone else experience something similar with Wi-fi?
 
Is the laptop still under warranty? That shouldn't be happening 🙂 Maybe a power problem (grounding) or something?
