My ex discovered somehow that if you put a CD (including recordables) in a microwave for just a second, it will create mesmerizing designs on it.

Yeah that's always fun. Light bulbs are pretty cool too. (only do it for a few seconds)

A few seconds? Haven't heard of Dovetastic (youtube) I take it! :D

How about 50 12gram CO2 carts?

There's videos out there (Russians, no surprise) that take the innards out and make a semi portable microwaving machine frying radios and other things. Dangerous but could be fun if you know what you're getting into.

My wife who is a gourmet chef uses the microwave all the time. She even uses small pieces of aluminum foil to control heating, such as when cooking a whole chicken or turkey, she will a 2 inch by 1 inch strip of foil behind the wings to keep them from cooking too fast. If you are careful how you do this, you won't have a problem.

Yes this is the norm to prevent overcooking thin areas. As long as the strips aren't close to other metal and don't have points to start coronas, etc. Should be perfectly fine.

Those soup cups that have metal rings are a good example. Take a hacksaw or similar and cut a slot all the way through and this will change. ;)

Yeah, you can use foil selectively with no problem.

Have never even considered cooking a whole chicken or turkey in a microwave myself.

Probably never will, there are so many other ways I'd prefer to cook one.

Haha I totally forgot about Dovetastic. I used to watch the "Is it a good idea to Microwave this?" videos but they stopped that show. :( That CO2 one was quite impressive, I like how the camera is going nuts, probably from microwave leakage.

Which got me thinking, I wonder what happens if you fly a drone right in the path of a microwave link. I think those are only like 40w but it might still cause weird stuff.

Hmmm I never imagined that the shape has an effect but guess it makes sense, it concentrates the waves differently I guess.

Wonder what happens if I put a coil of wire in there... lol

My 8 year old LG howls like a dying giraffe.
About 10% of the time, the magnetron or fan doesn't kick on the first try.
It's about due to be replaced.
