Where does it dictate I must use a stove and oven to prepare my food?

Why is it unacceptable?

Because, there are many many places on this planet that do not have microwaves or the power to run them. You are truly doing yourself a disservice if the only place you can survive is a metropolitan area with a Quicky Mart next door. Take some pride and responsibility man! Until science develops the blue pill and you can reasonably give up things like cooking which apparently are distasteful to you, you need to learn the basics. If only to keep knowledgeable and experienced women from laughing at you.

I don't use the stove or oven more than once or twice a year. Therefore I am unaware of the normal cooking time of a specific item on a completely unrelated device. The rice wasn't in there for the entire 28 minutes either. I might not even have set it for 28 minutes, somewhere 24-28, although in any case it still did not run for the entire duration.

Also, I take the white pill.

And as soon as I cross the threshold of being wealthy enough to hire an assistant, a cook is definitely first on the list.

You are a disgusting person.

Nop. MW can be used as a supplementary device to aid in the cooking process.. but preparing food solely with the help of MW is unacceptable.

you can actually do some amazing, quick things with a microwave if you know how to fiddle with the settings, and if you're preparing a somewhat elaborate meal.

say you want shrimp or sardines or something with various dipping sauces or tapenade or whatever. quick whip up some garlic/butter/oil chili, and tomato /pest, whatever, etc, toss them in the microwave for a quick cook. saves time and cleaning. and if you learn not to cook everything on high, it can cook just fine.

really, it is a tool in the kitchen like any other. If you don't confuse it with "device to cook frozen dinners," then you can maybe accept it for its many uses.

This has got to be the most stupid post I've ever seen

It wasn't in there for the entire 28 minutes. I stopped it as soon as I noticed the smoke. I've also ate this same rice prepared the same.

The bowl holds 3.125 cups. There's not a lot of rice in the package.

You may use this volume conversion chart if you are converting quarts (qt) to cups for the values listed in the table below.

Quart is an imperial volume unit. Cup is a units of measurement for volume, generally used in cooking to measure liquids and bulk foods.

1 Quart [US] = 4 Cups [US]
2 Quart [US] = 8 Cups [US]

You probably can't measure to save your life. BTW in case your great culinary brain hasn't caught on, rice / water expands and has to go somewhere.

Don't get me wrong.. I am not saying it is useless, but solely using a MW to prepare food.. for the past 2 years?

Oh.. and my roommate made a variation of this today.. savoring that now.

Multiple people in this thread have been telling the OP that this is a major personal lack but, I'm not sure we're getting through. D:

the fuck? my first assumption, is that the directions would have been 25minutes, 30-50% power.

...but 25 minutes High? ridiculous. obvious typo. lol

I have another box in a different flavor that instructs 20-24 minutes.

well...you should learn how to use a stove. rice in microwave...25 minutes. sad.

if you're too lazy to take out a pot and put water in it, cook for 25 minutes, then your generation is a failure. all of you. :(

Using a pot requires cleanup. If I can accomplish the same thing without doing dishes then the latter is more time efficient.

Sure, there are lots of things that would be nice to know in the case of an apocalypse. I suppose I should also be able to start a fire with two sticks, weave my own clothes from wool I shaved myself, and know what wildlife to eat in case I'm ever stuck in a forest.

This is valid criticism and is the likely cause. Although, rice expands but displaces the water.

I wonder what was the difference between this and previous successful preparations using similar methods.

well, yes. of course.

we are all keenly aware that OP is a failure at life, most likely due to his parents having failed to prepare him for basic living.

if OP is an orphan, then I apologize.

I'm not talking about a zombie apocalypse, I'm talking about a number of places west of the Mississippi. More and more, you're sounding like a metro waste of space and believe me, women will recognize your lack of skillz.

It's sad that you don't see the level of your incompetence. It's like pulling into a gas station and having to ask how to use the pump and where to stick it in.

I'm not debating my inexperience with traditional meal preparation. I'm sure multiple places west of the Mississippi have microwaves available.

Not using a stove and oven = "waste of space" ??? A small exaggeration?

Many people that grow up in New York have never driven a car.

To answer the question in the thread title. Yes it was your fault. Recipie says 2quart bowl... you used a 3.15 cup bowl. Overflowed, no water, burning ensued. User error

I am however in awe that someone could screw up coking rice.

Question about your mw only cooking. How do you cook steak or chicken or fish or pork chops?

And they are lacking in basic skills as are you. Seriously, New York is not the center of the universe and most people have occasion to at least visit someplace else. There's no shame in being ignorant BUT, once you learn you are, not doing something about it is pathetic.

I don't cook any of that.

Can you post a pic of said directions?

I've been to both coasts, Canada, Mexico border, Hawai`i and many places in between. They all have microwaves.

Do you exercise 2-3 times a week for 30 minutes? I would consider that more important than using a stove and oven to prepare food.
