I am using a 56k connection, but I needed to run a SMTP server in order to be able to send mails because my ex-college had decided to stop its relaying service after a series of serious spams. I installed IIS alright and it appears to me that the Virtual SMTP Server was is installed okay as well. In Eudora, the email client I have been using, I set my IP address to be the SMTP server. I tried sending several mails to myself, has in which case the Eudora's mail-sending status suggested that the mails were sent successfully. But that is not the case, because when I tried to download the mails I had just sent to myself, I got nothing. And more strangely, I didn't get any "failure-to-deliver" notification as well. Any help on this would be much appreciated.

this is just a wild random guess, but try using smtp.localhost.com instead of your IP.

LMK what happens !

joinT, to begin with, i couldn't see how it would work with smtp.localhost.com, as "smtp.localhost.com" doesn't resolve to my IP address or any IP addresses for that matter. but i went ahead and tried and as suspected, it didn't work. eudora gave some "error getting network address for smtp.localhost.com" error. thanks for suggestion, though.
