Microsoft's cloud products are so good, but not on Android

They work well from a browser and in my work's Lumia 920. But I can't get them to work properly in Android. I've downloaded One Note but it can't sync on my Android phones. Also, everytime I edit and save a document in the Skydrive Android app, it does not save it at all. Does this happen to anyone else? It's really annoying.

Nope, just these two Microsoft apps. OneNote does not sync. Skydrive syncs but whenever I edit something it does not save it even though when I hit the back button it gives me options for saving and I click on the 'Save' button.

I don't think Skydrive allows any mobile devices to save to it, except from Windows Phone. I could be wrong.

OneNote does work though.

Yeah, I just discovered that yesterday when trying to edit on my One. No indication that it didn't properly save, just went back into the document a little later and saw the old version. Tried editing it again, and it didn't take. Luckily I didn't type a whole lot.

Really annoying, as I have a bunch of docs that I keep synced via Skydrive. There are other cloud storage products that I use (Drive, SpiderOak, and sometimes Dropbox...think I have an unused Box.com one as well), but Skydrive works the best except for apparently it's Android version. I'm missing Office and Skydrive on Windows Phone, as well as Xbox Music (Zune). Google Play Music needs some work. It would be better for everyone if Google and Microsoft just made/worked faster on their products for each others ecosystems. Or if/when Bluestacks releases an Android emulation app on Windows Phone I can just stay go to Windows Phone only.

I'm tempted to buy a Windows Phone, maybe a cheap 8X or Lumia, just to keep around for the stuff Microsoft does well. My Trophy has a cracked screen otherwise I would use that. I wish ASUS had done a dual mobile operating system phone instead of a tablet. 😀

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I feel that MS is going out of their way to make things difficult for Android users. But their Office apps are so much better than Google's that I just can't quit it.

Yeah that's what I was trying to say, from non-WP devices you cannot save/modify files on Skydrive. My 'it' was referring to Skydrive.

Are you serious? Is this official or just from your experience? If it's official then there's no point in having the app...

So would it be fair to then say their cloud products are not so good? 😉

That does suck. I hate when developers release half-assed software. I would honestly prefer they don't release a port at all if they're going to intentionally cripple it.

Not sure if this is official, but I found some discussions just by googling it and it looks like a lot of people are having the same problem.

One of the possible solutions is to not use the SkyDrive app but instead third party programs (e.g. Astro File Manager) that can connect to SkyDrive, save the file, and it will be updated back to the cloud. I haven't tested this, though.

I personally don't really use my SkyDrive for this purpose (I use mainly Dropbox) so I haven't done more than 5 minutes google search on this.
 
I gave up WP7 because it was OK but not great. NOVA CC used gmail and everything worked fine with my Android.
Then I went to GMU.
They use Live Mail cuz their most famous alumnus is the VP of Live Mail at microsoft.

It stinks by comparison but I will acknowledge if you have WP8 it probably works fine.

Problem is most students have Android or some sort of iDevice.
