Whenever I highlight text with my mouse and then start typing it won't overwrite the highlighted text, rather it will start typing to the left of the text. Any idea how to fix this? It is getting REALLY annoying.

Tools / Options / Edit

Check "Typing replaces selection"

You can just press the "Insert" button on your keyboard. Watch out when you press "Home", "Delete", or "End". I always hit insert unconsciously and waste time...

I think his situation is a bit different than Insert / Overwrite mode.
