Wow, I don't think I've ever seen anyone with such a high post count get their pee-pee slapped by a moderator. Kudos to you

Wow, mods are all over this one.

Anyway, amazing uptime!

I'm proud of my 50 or so day Windows uptime on my P3... its still running right now :)

It's free to begin with.

Linux is free only if your time is worthless ;)

That argument is only valid if Microsoft server software administered itself; it does not.

Bah! I'm not convinced, never will be. If you build it right, it will run flawlessly. I've had WinNT 4.0 run for 478 days uptime on a Compaq Deskpro Celeron 333MHz w/ 128MB RAM. The only reason I had to reboot it was because we changed Virus Scanning applications from McAfee to Norton. I'm convinced beyond the shadow of a doubt that it would have kept running for twice as long untouched. Besides, I don't really give a damn that a single Linux box that houses some small time website can keep uptime for that long anyway. Real uptime for real websites requires clustering, load balancing, etc.

my friends brother works at a local ISP, and they had some sort of hopped up linux PC mini server box that hadn't been rebooted in like 5 years. it had a dymo label across the front that said:

"do not reboot EVER"

so funny

but the power outage of 2003 in ontario/north eastern US screwed it all. the UPS could only handle it for a while.. and it went down :(

pretty cool a PC(!!!) could handle that much uptime!
