Good deal! What is the difference between this keyboard and the ones with the huge split in the middle?

the one with the split in the middle is considered ergonomic, this one isnt...or at least it doesnt say....

Wonder if it'll come with the rebate form. It says copies/reproductions of the rebate form are not accepted... only originals from microsoft or from qualified vendors. Probably get the rebate, but that clause made me wonder. It's a good deal even without the rebate though.

Generally what I found that means is they want it filled with your own handwriting (printing it out yourself over getting a rebate form from store shouldnt matter). What would be considered a copy/reproduction would be to then make a copy of it afterwards and send them that instead.

Does this come with rechargeable batteries?

Comes with 4 Energizer AA alkaline batteries (non-recharable).

Supposedly battery life is approx 6 months for this set from what I've heard.

One can stop by your closest gas station and get robbed on your way to your closest b&m staples, or try a pm. The kb/mouse combo might still be a deal. Better, ride a bike😉

I hate when it says USB but then is actually PS/2 for the keyboard. Dell's 5150 only has USB slots. Oh well.

My combo is hooked up to only the USB port (one connection) and it works fine. I'm not sure why the PS/2 connector is there, but I didn't need it. In any event, it also comes with a doogle to convert the PS/2 connector to USB if you do need to use it.

It appears it can be connected via ps2 or usb. Semi-ergonomic design in that the keys are angled in a "V" but w/o the "hump" like the standalone kb's. 4 AA Alkaline batts are supplied, so rechargeable alkalines should work too.

Mouse is nice. Same mouse in silver/grey goes for over $30 although I've got a couple of these Explorer mice late last year for about $17 on ocassional PM's. One I got was dark indigo ink blue.

Rebate spits out after receipt. I had to do a PM with OD.

Can you use just the keyboard and use a different mouse if you want? I ordered this combo but I really only want the keyboard. I'm happy with my rechargable MX700.
