Remember, any of you who cashed in on the Best Buy deal here won't be able to get the rebate, 1 per person only. Good luck for all you others, though!

It seems that the $10 Microsoft rebate ended 6/30. I hope somebody can prove me wrong....

I took a look at that Staples linked PDF (in that thread lightsider mentioned) and it seems to be still valid. The only problem is that both the $5 CompUSA and the $10 Microsoft rebates require the original box top, serial number et al. I *think* the best this could work out is $5 net, still not bad for an optical mouse.

(I hope somebody can prove me wrong, too! :))

I've just read the CompUSA online rebate. It says to send in:

completed coupon along with the boxtop (non-UPC symbol portion) from the
eligible product along with a photocopy of your CompUSA receipt to the following
address:

So, we can still use the UPC for the Microsoft rebate, right?

Well... I have the rebates here in my hand (and the mouse too, which is nice :) )

Rebate from CompUSA Claims:
1 Purchase Microsoft WheelMouse Optical (SKU 292633) aat CompUSA between August 10,2002 and August 17,2002
2 Mail this completed cupon along with the boxtop (non-UPC symbol portion) from the eligible product along with a photocopy of your CompUSA receipt to the following address: WheelMouse Optical Rebate, PO box 710449, Dallas, TX 75371-0449

Rebate that I have from Microsoft which I got off:
rebate
This one Claims:
1. Get the Mouse
2. Enclose proof of purchase from the wheel Mouse Optical you just acquired. Eligible forms of proof of purchase include product box top, with the product name and barcode clearly identified from the product.
3. Copy of receipt

So does this mean you send the upc part to microsoft and the rest of the box top to CompUSA? but the microsoft part still asks for the box top with product name clearly Identified?
I'm calling to clarify these questions tomorrow, At any rate $5 for this mouse is still good.
Thanks Xpeng

I'm just guessing, but the box TOP flap probably doesn't have the UPC code on it; it is probably on the bottom flap of the box. Boxtop is a word (I think) while boxbottom isn't, which might be what is causing some confusion. I would think the flap with the UPC would go to Microsoft and the flap without would go to CompUSA.

Microsoft rebate - portion of box top with the sticker containing UPC symbol, product ID, etc.
CompUSA rebate - rest of the box top.

Note that there's two versions of the same MS Wheel Mouse Optical: 21 and 29. 29 is the newer one. Has a lighter gray, translucent side and bottom casing. And from what I hear, a better optical mechanism.

The box top depends on how you put down the box. You can send rest portion of UPC side or the other whole side with product name to CompUSA, they all "non-UPC symbol portion".

Thanks for the deal xpeng, i'm using my new ms wheel optical mouse now. Need some help though, i checked all the mouse boxes there and all of them have the upc sticker on the boxtop. Now, do i cutout the upc portion and send that to microsoft and the rest of the boxtop to compusa? Thanks.
