Microsoft universally extends Xbox360 warranty

I wouldn't say it's universally extended, the extra 2 years only covers the RROD. If you bought the 3 year you're covered for the entire console for 3 years.

umm the ring of death is probably the most serious problem anyway. And I'm not sure if the warranty specifically only covers that either, it sounds like it's a generic warranty.

Microsoft, the great American company, said they are moving their operations to Canuckistan, Mudistan, Dirtistan, Crapistan, et cetera, since the illegal immigrant amnesty bill didn't pass...

If you think I'm BS'ing ya: Link

Personally, I'm done with them!

How about you?

Supposedly, if you 'get in their face', they'll refund money for repairs, et cetera...

But, we're talkin' MS, sooooo....

The problem, of course, is because ppl from Canuckistan, Mudistan, Dirtistan, and Crapistan are developing their products now, but we'll let them figure that out the hard way, right? 😀

Someone has a problem with Microsoft.

The warranty on launch consoles (2005) is supposed to be lifetime (right?), so this doesn't affect me.

What is MS going to do about all the people that went ahead and opened up their console or sold it at a huge loss after being told that it would cost $140 to fix?

Where did you hear that? I just remember the outrage expressed when it was reported that the first warranty extension wasn't long enough to warrant launch units that had developed problems, though, if it was done earlier, many of them would have been covered. It was almost as if MS waited for them to fall outside the time frame of the warranty extension. Each time the warranty was extended again, I'd shake my head as I realize that the launch units still were not covered. I never heard the outrage again which led me to believe that I missed something like what you describe.

There's nothing about it on MS's website, however, and Wikipedia says Microsoft cancelled the extended launch warranty, so I don't know.

I haven't had any problems with mine, except a few freezes here and there. But somehow I don't think my luck is going to last forever.

my 360 is dead but I don't have my receipt anymore. Will Microsoft honor this?

I would assume so, being as the unit hasn't even been out for 3 years.

Evil empire my butt. I've had two USB optical mice replaced under warranty with no charge and have been able to activate and reactivate my legitimate copies of windows on motherboard after motherboard. I don't lovewthe quality of MS softare and the bloat factor, but when it comes to standing behind their product with warranties and replacements, MS is okay by me.

Wow.

Bit of a racist asshole, aren't you?
