Microsoft under investigation

Mine will do it if I move the console or if there is any big vibration, although after it destroyed one disc I have been careful enough that it hasn't happened since. Luckily BB has a "no questions asked returns and exchanges on all X360 software"

You move the console while it is spinning the disc????

There are random situations that call for it sometimes. Or what if a pet yanks a cord and the system comes tumbling? The fact that it happens period is ridiculous.

If that's the case than the system should be placed horizontal to prevent it from tumbling in the first place.

the point is that other consoles don't have this problem...I had a 360 scratch one disc pretty bad, I brought it back to walmart for an exchange. No excuse for that. I'm pretty sure I didn't do anything to the system to make it happen. And again, I have never had this happen on any other system, and I have owned them all.

We lost a copy of "Viva Pinata" like that.. Son was trying to reach around behind the console to reseat the wifi, lifted the cosnole up about 20-30* from horizontal and it chewed the disc up.

Yea, rotation is the worst. The problem was bad at launch cause everyone wanted to show their friends how the ring changed when you moved the console from horizontal to vertical, and they usually did so with a disc inside.

Some drives do it without moving the 360. It's like the redring, it's not just because people "did something wrong"

People have posted here & at Ars about their "DRoD" (Disc Ring of Doom 🙂 ) circular-scratch experiences with 360s that were horizontal and stable. There was also some European Union investigation that proved it but I'm too lazy to google for it.
