Its simply a great product which is a future of Human-Computer-Interface. Its simply the next step in evolution. Like the speaker of a walkie talkie, where you can talk and listen, this screen is bidirectional, you can see and capture, its like a scanner and a screen, PLUS its a multiple other features like detecting where the human is and other proactive features.

But what I wanted to point out here is, how big of a fail msft really is. Every great product it has ever came out with has always flopped. It has terrible PR, worst marketing machinery and no goodwill amongst the youth. Just like everything else it has ever created, even this will fail. As a result humanity will get this very useful technology late, very late, when some other company gets its hand on it and run with it.

Perhaps Microsoft should sell this whole division to Apple or Google and we can all get this on out tablets with the next year or so!! But we know that's never gonna happen... oh well, we will wait, wait for another 5 - 6 years before we can get our hands on it....

The Microsoft Surface worked great in the new Mission impossible movie :awe:

I don't think they're doing bad. They just posted another year of record profits IIRC. Plus the Kinect was a great success, and is the fastest selling consumer electronic device in history. The thing with the surface tech is that it's too expensive and the general public doesn't know shit about it (which might go back to the marketing thing)

Not to mention the Xbox 360 in general has managed to go toe to toe with the PS3 and be a success, and that's a lot about marketing and PR.

It's geared towards businesses, not the average Joe.

That's kinda my point, why? why not average Joe? that's where the money and fame is... I understand its probably difficult to compress it, but atleast they should work on it and have a vision for it to be available on Laptops in the future.

Who says they don't?

I don't see why it has to be expensive. Seriously. Just get a pico projector from Optoma for ~$300, hook it up to a $500 computer, and throw in another $100 or so for the touch sensitive LED's on the surface.

They really should be able to make it for under $2k Imo. And from the looks of it it truly is a revolutionary computing device.

I don't know, I just wished it made more buzz... go to its website, there nothing there for me, its kinda all about how you can impress and connect with your customers.

Nothing is stopping you from purchasing it. If you want it and can afford it, go buy it.

Let's see if you're smart enough to figure out why Microsoft isn't pushing this as a consumer product. I highly doubt it, but I'll throw you a bone.
