Doesn't make sense.

Your tablet will never perform as well as even a low end laptop.

MS OS has very few apps (even though it will grow, I don't see it catching up to Apple/Android in the near future.

Also the things that tablets CAN do, you are already able to do with apps out there.

um this is a i5 PC with a touchscreen.. not a ARM tablet proc.
the Pro is pretty darn awesome.
You can load ANY windows app on the Pro. it has full USB3 and bluetooth.
it is a full laptop the same size as an Ipad.

I want one as well.. but leaning more towards the Asus Taichi
that is 1 killer machine.

First off, let's not get ahead of ourselves. Detailed specs are not out yet and MS idea of detailed spec is "I5". That doesn't mean Quad Core.

Second, I didn't know MS is making a laptop without a keyboard (my bad on that). Or add on keyboard.

So it will basically be a tablet with low end/mid range laptop specs.

Also I will hold my breath until I see the battery life on these things. PC CPU architecture is quite a bit different from Tablet CPU. There is a reason for that.

So let's say that you can do office on these things. Great, but why in the world would anyone want to do that on a tablet. And once you add a keyboard you basically have a laptop anyways (thing is as thick as your average laptop).

All Microsoft did here was move the hardware from under the keyboard to under the screen. I'm not impressed and I will take a $500 laptop over this hype any day of the week and twice on sunday.

Will it sell? sure.

From an article I read this morning the Surface Pro gets 1/2 the battery life of the RT, 4 1/2 hours or so.

"Battery capacity goes up to 42Wh, an increase of 33%, putting it about on par with the 3rd and 4th generation iPads. Charger size also goes up to 48W compared to 24W with the RT version. Update: Microsoft announced via its Surface Twitter account that the Pro version would offer roughly half the battery life of Surface RT. Without S0ix support, Surface Pro should look a lot like a standard Ultrabook when it comes to battery life. If you want the best of both worlds, Haswell will be what you'll need to wait for."

Ok so basically here is what you get.

Overpriced laptop with hardware under the Screen.
Half the battery of equivalent laptop.

But who wants to use Windows apps with a touchscreen?

Once you add the keyboard.....you basically have a laptop.

Yes, but you can take the keyboard off the surface but you can't take the keyboard off the laptop. get it?

And the answer to your question is every corporate ipad user.

Wrong on both parts...it's equivilant battery life of the ultrabook category, and on par (or cheaper) in terms of price of an equivilant laptop, with added cost of the touchscreen and keyboard.

Oh yea. I love the concept, but not the price so much. I'm a fan of bottom end portables. I like something that can break or get stolen, and not be a heartbreak. I'm still using my netbook from 2008. It does everything I need on the go, and it only cost me $200 :^)

I hear ya, I haven't even bought into the ebook reader realm, I am waiting on the new txtr beagle to come for about $20.00!!
