Vamos, who admitted he has never used Firefox, said there is a lot of hype surrounding the open-source movement and that if Microsoft's customers wanted new features, they would have told the company about it.
I don't think that Internet Explorer is any less secure than any other browser out there
I don't believe it is a true statement that IE doesn't have the features that our customers want
English reiterated that features such as tabbed browsing are not important to IE users.

wow. some people are retarded...if someone did a poll if people wanted tabbed browsing, i would definitely bet at least 50% will vote yes. and firefox has its extensions...which push it to the #1 browser IMO.

IE has all the features I need, but its slow, and gives me too much spyware.
Most people woudln't ask for tabbed browsing because they don't even know what it is. They just think IE does all that can be done.

You guys realize that if FireFox was to become as popular as IE and gain a major installed base, that it will become just as slow and unstable as IE. If Firefox was actually to gain more than 20 regular users, more and more stuff will have to be added for it to keep up, then it will turn into IE basically. IE6 owns Firefox. Oh, and I don't see the big deal about tabbed browsing. It's the same as having multiple windows open. With tabs, you click on the tab, with windows, you click on the *gasp* tab on the start bar. Whoopdy f'in do, it's the same thing.

The 'Big Deal' with tabbed browsing it that it keeps your taskbar clean and neat while using a small memory foot print than opening multiple browser windows.

How does having more users make a piece of software slow and unstable? Your arguments are pointless and do not make any sense. As far as tabbed browsing goes, it is apparant you haven't used it. Try opening about 10 IE windows once and see how much memory you use up I'll give you a hint, it is 10 times the size of one IE window. Now do the same with firefox and you might use 2 times the amount of memory up. Not too mention it helps a lot when trying to go between a browser and another program. With 10 IE windows up it clutters your task bar.

Oh, and the extensions for Firefox really make it. I have my RSS feeds in my Sage sidebar, mouse gestures (which I am absolutely in love with), and Adblock which blocks all ad feeds. Good luck doing that with IE.

IE With 10 windows = 116,552k

Firefox with 10 tabs = 48,184k

Nevermind that closing all those windows is a PITA!

just thought I'd mention that if anyone likes IE and wants tabbed browsing to check out Avant Browser. I use it and it has a ton of features. I'm not saying it's better or worse than firefox so don't start attacking me. Just an alternative some people might want to try.

Microsoft says FireFox is not a threat

I guess it`s how you look at it,most Window users(World wide) don`t even know about Firefox or are just happy with IE,then you have to add other browsers into the equation like Opera,Mozilla and you`ll find it can be confusing for your average Joe out there.

I think probably what this is doing to Microsoft is giving them a wakeup call, however we`ll have to see how things will pan out in the future with Microsoft and their next IE development..

The more users a browser gets, the more features the users will want. The more features the developer tries to stuff in to make the millions of people happy, the more bogged down it will get. Just my thoughts. And I have used tabbed browsing before, and I don't see the revolutionary advantages of it. I can't possibly imagine why someone would even have to have 10 tabs of stuff running. The most IE's I ever have open are 2 to 3, if that. Plus, I have a gig of ram, so memory isn't really an issue for me.

You guys can have your insuperior Firefox, I just like getting you riled up :). IE is better than Firefox, Windows is better than Linux, PCs are better than Macs, and Anandtech is better than Tom's. That's just the way it is, that's why the respective leaders have as many users as they do.

Some of us use our systems. At work it's easy for me to have 15 IE windows open. At home, even more. Tabbed browsers make it easier to keep it all organized.

And the developers do not have to squeeze every feature into the browser, that's what extensions are for.

Market share does not relate to technical superiority. IE is not better than firefox. Windows is not better than Linux. x86 based PCs are not better than Apple machines (which are personal computers too). Anandtech is better than Tom's. It's all up to each individual user.

Ford is better than Ferrari, Emachines is better than Alienware, Fried Chicken is better than fillet mignon. We all know that the more common something is, the better it is. Quality is determined purely by market share. That's why the very rich buy the same things that the average Joe Walmart shopper buys. Oh, wait...

I'd rather have fried chicken right now.

and again I must say... "Opinions are like @ssholes, everybody has one",.
It often comes down to personal taste, and it's very hard to convince people that <something_a> is better than <something_b>

Although, in my opinion,
FireFox > * > IE
